NCAA/AZMAN AIR SAGA: A WITCH-HUNT FROM MUSA NUHU

Recently Azman Air received a letter referenced number NCAA/DG/AIR/11/16/300 dated 15 March 2021 signed by DG NCAA Captain Musa Nuhu informing them about the suspension of their flight operations without any Justifiable Course.

However, it is equally important to inform the General Public about the circumstances that led to this unfortunate situation.

A) Prior to the appointment of Musa Nuhu, DG of NCAA, while he was serving as Nigerian ICAO representative in Canada, few years back. He was at Azman Air Head Office in Kano with copies of ICAO Magazines, which featured Azman Air advert and demanded the sum of 15 million Naira for the publications, which the Managing Director of Azman Air Faisal Abdulmunaf outrightly rejected.

B) On his appointment and assumption of duty as DG NCAA, he started his vendetta against Azman Air. Such as, raising serious allegations against the airline in different meetings, which Azman Air always objected on spot. Most of the time it is obvious this infuriates him.

C) The DG seriously expressed his anger to Azman about not allocating any amount to him from the recently 4 billion Naira Covid-19 Palliative approved by the FG, reason is Azman Chairman is the AON President and among the people that shared the funds. That made him very bitter.

D) As part of his vendetta, DG sat on Azman Air request to bring in expatriate for more than a year, it took the intervention of Honourable Minister of Aviation to have him release the documents, which he eventually obliged with a refusal recommendation. Azman Air met him personally, he said he has friends and relatives that he want us to employ. But after detailing the nature of what is at stake to the Minister in terms of Safety, he was overruled.

Finally, As it is clearly manifested in the DG NCAA letter of Suspension, there is no reason given by Musa Nuhu for the decision he has taken apart from his vendetta. It is unfortunate for an indigenous private company that employed Thousands of Nigerian Families, complied with rules and regulations of NCAA for more than 7 years to be targeted by a single individual for issue that is not in the interest of Nigeria. It is clear that those families do not mean anything to him.

Truthfully, Azman Air has never been sanctioned nor has any bad records with the authority before the coming of this DG for a revenge since 2014. Azman Air was opportuned to work with about 6 NCAA DG's in the past, but this DG is nowhere close to his predecessors in terms delivering the mandate of his office, He is just looking forward to his personal benefit not NCAA or its hard working staff. There was no invitation for hearing, notification, querry or any explanation for the reason of Azman Air suspension. Due process has not been followed.

Comments

  1. Exactly aviation industry being what it is highly regulated and Azman Airline being in operations for more than six years if it were operating not in tendem with regulations it would have manifested .
Azman has been an ardent adherent to regulatory checks and an incident of tyre bust is not enough to warrant a safety audit or suspension but if there is an ulterior motive for that we can understand.
